Welcome to The Revelation Commentary

The Revelation is complex and controversial because the book's content lends itself to to many diverse interpretations, based on the viewpoint of the interpreter. Most interpreters view the book as predicting a future end time.

My view is that the author, the Apostle John, and his immediate audience, Christians living in the Roman province of Asia in what is now western Turkey, understood The Revelation in terms of their own circumstances; that is, the letter addressed things that were happening to them. We can learn a great deal from the letter if we put ourselves in their places and seek the meaning through their eyes.

Please understand what I am not saying. I am not saying that The Revelation does not address the future and that we should ignore those interpretations. I am saying that we can gain even more by discovering its past meaning, along with its future meanings.

I broke the commentary into three documents for ease of use. This allows the reader, if they like, to open all three at once and flip between them.
